Breakout of Maths Stereotypes
SAE@SSERC in partnership with the Young STEM Leader team and funded by the Maths Week Scotland Small Grants Fund are delighted to introduce:

Breakout is a resource kit that will be co-designed between groups of Young STEM Leaders and STEM Ambassadors in the East of Scotland. Each kit will involve fun and challenging maths problems that showcase the use of maths in STEM careers.
The Breakout kit will initially be used by the Young STEM Leaders involved in the co-design to deliver to their peers. They will thereafter be available for wider distribution.
The resource kit is not only a fun and engaging way to deliver maths activities it is also a practical way for STEM Ambassadors to work with schools when face-to-face volunteering is a challenge.
What is a Breakout Box?
A breakout box is inspired by escape rooms and involves a series of boxes locked by a combination lock; solve a challenge to discover the number to unlock the padlock. Inside the box is the challenge for the next box and so on...
Each of our boxes will feature a different maths challenge linked to a STEM career. Think a geometry themed puzzle linked to engineering!
